I am blessed

I've been thinking a lot lately about how I am a very blessed person. There are many reasons from friends to family to co-workers. I never realized how many gifts I've been given and how important they are to me. As I have begun sharing my life with Shawn I'm finding I say "that was a gift" a lot. Most of the time it's things like guitar stands, capos, and Dominic Hasek bobble heads. And then I get to explain who it was from and why they are important in my life. As I'm doing this I'm realizing that I have many people who have blessed me. So thank you!

Here's a little story of last Friday. I was walking over to my friend Sarah's house (here in Kansas) for dinner and talking to my friend Sara (in Michigan) on the phone. Well I love talking to Sara and we were having a great conversation (she was helping me decrease my stress level) so when I got to Kansas Sarah's house I kept walking around her block. This happened for three trips around and on my third trip I was met by a Husky. He was leaving me alone but following me along when all of a sudden he spotted an older lady with a dog up ahead talking to a group of children. I wasn't really paying much attention to what was going on because I was talking but I did see the lady try and get her dog back to her house as the Husky was bounding around her and the kids. She ended up making it to her house and getting her dog inside and most of the kids went back to their house except for a girl who is about 12 years old. She was standing on the corner when the Husky came running towards her. She became scared and turned quickly while screaming and the dog jumped up on her. Afterwards I saw her run crying to her house and she went inside. As I walked closer I could hear her still crying inside and her brother was looking scared out the window. I told Mi Sara what I had seen and that I wasn't sure if she had gotten bitten or not. So I said good bye and decided to check. I walked up to the house and the little boy answered the door. I asked if his sister was ok and he said she got bit. She came over to the door with a napkin on the bottom of her arm. She was still bawling. I asked to see her arm and she had about 6-8 puncture wounds on the top and bottom of her arm and she was bleeding pretty good. There wasn't a parent home and they didn't have a phone to call one so I let them use my cell phone and the younger sister called her mother who was down the block. At this point I had another child get some more napkins and I held them on her arm to keep pressure on the wounds. The lady came back over to the house to see if everything was ok. She had locked the Husky in her back yard where he couldn't get out. It ended up she knew who the Husky belonged to and the owner had actually been outside trying to call the dog back but I guess gave up because he never came over to the house. Well the mother came and took the girl to the emergency room and the lady was going to call the police to turn the dog in. After everything calmed down I went to Kansas Sarah's house to clean the blood off my hands and clothes. It was an exciting walk..... The best part was today when I saw the girls sister in the hallway at school and she asked if I was the one who helped her sister. She said that her sister was doing better and ended up getting stitches.
